Moving With Your Car
Household items are difficult enough to move. But, what if you have cars to move, too? Some families have extra autos they would like to bring on their move and sometimes I've come across auto collectors who have special cars to bring with them. There are many things to consider and a few ways to solve this problem, so I'll talk about a few in this post. Auto MoversAuto movers specialize in taking your car long distances on large trucks much like you see auto dealers using. Some even have enclosed trucks. Using an auto mover can save you money against having a moving company handle the job, as they base their charges partly on weight. These companies will often have special insurance policies which cover your car. In fact, you may be able to use your own insurance and save a few dollars. Ask your insurance agent to see what the additional cost, if any, will be to cover your car under the car of an auto mover.Sell? It may not be worthwhile to bring the car with you. Check to see if you'll need the car in your new home. For instance, if you're moving from a suburban area to a heavily urban area, you may not want to bother with the hassle and expense of another car. The car may be suited to a particular climate and so it may be time to leave it behind. It may also be that the value of the car does not justify the moving costs. Selling the car will save on moving costs as well as the hassles of taking care of the car in your new home. Selling may be a good option, or you could donate the car to a charity for a tax write-off.Help from Friends
Friends, family members, or acquaintances may be able to help you move your car. It may be possible to find someone to drive your car door-to-door for you in exchange for a plane ticket home or some other compensation. While this person will not have a professional liability involved in the deal, he or she will be covered under your insurance. Check your insurance policy to see what is covered in case of an accident. These sorts of situations can be mutually beneficial and thus save you hundreds or thousands of dollars. Ask around, you may be surprised at what you find.
