GYMO Does Volunteering – Check us out at Walk Now for Autism Speaks 2012!

Check out our team in action! Every year, we at GYMO do a lot with the autism community. The annual Walk for Autism in Tempe put on by the national organization Autism Speaks, is a great way to fundraise and get support and awareness for Autism Spectrum disorders.We recently had this video put together to show not only our company, but how hard our guys work on a volunteer basis to give back to the community and help. They also help out in support of me since my oldest son is affected. We supply the moving trucks, moving materials and the brute force needed to get the walk set up. This entails moving tables and chairs, trash and recycling receptacles, tents, and more.April is Autism Awareness Month and we did a lot to be a part of that. From getting our video finished and published, we also got listed as an official Gold sponsor of the event. I am the chairman of the walk this year, and we are always looking for people who can be of service. Whether it is through a donation, by making a team and walking, or volunteering to help run the walk, no amount of help is too big or small.The walk itself is at Tempe Beach Park, and it is a warm and inviting, family-friendly environment.You can make a simple donation, sponsor a walker, or simply volunteer your time. Every 11 minutes, a family receives the news that their child is on the autism spectrum. They are left confused and wondering what the ‘new normal’ will be for their child and for themselves. With research and understanding, we can help these families. Odds are you know someone who is affected. Autism spectrum disorders are more prevalent now than ever before.
