Why We Love Estate Moves

Estate moves can be intimidating, but they can also be fun and exciting with the proper planning. There are so many factors that go into making this a smooth process. We handle a lot of estate moves at Get Your Move On, and we have found that keeping it simple is the best idea. Even though your house may have more square footage than some others, you still have the same problem – how will you move your stuff and keep your sanity at the same time?

Check out our tips for help:

  • Step 1: Get Supplies First, make a list of all the boxes you will need. Keep in mind there are specific boxes for dishes, wardrobes, etc. Have newspaper and bubble wrap on hand as well as tape, labels, and markers. Put all the supplies together in one area to ensure that they are easily accessible.

  • Step 2: De-Clutter The more you get rid of, the less there is to move! More than likely, you will find some things that are outdated or that you just do not need anymore. Decide what items you want to take with you. If you have anything to get rid of, consider having a yard sale or donating it to a local charity.

  • Step 3: Organize Organization is the key to an easier move. When you begin the packing process, label each box so that there is no doubt of its contents. For example, write "Kitchen-Dishes". This will be helpful when it comes to unpacking and all the boxes are in the correct rooms. This will definitely save you time and you won't be cutting open every box to find things.

  • Step 4: Assistance Estate moves usually require very large items to be packaged and moved. Consider having help with this. Large, expensive items can get damaged easily in a move. If a moving company is hired, they are trained on how to properly handle large items and they have insurance to cover items in the unfortunate event that do become damaged.

At GYMO, we love estate moves because we really get to show off! We often get to showcase our packing skills, moving skills, and our timeliness. We get a great feeling from helping nervous homeowners get their precious cargo from point A to point B.
